    Change is not always good!!

Been there few times but this last time was a shocker visit! Went in with my wife, who had fallen in love with their fajitas and the fresh guacamole. To her surprise, the new owner had decided to change the menu and delete some dishes which fajitas was one of them. If it's one of the best sellers why take it out the menu?? She ordered enchilada for dinner but she almost did not pass the second bite that she realized there are almonds in the dish!!! The disappointed look on her face and not liking her food made me very upset. All she would say is to take her there for the fajitas but she ended up just having the guacamole and the "sweet" salsa after a very long hard working day. All I want to know is why did you change the menu on your patrons when the food was selling well?? The new menu is not appealing at all. And by the way, called to find out how much the wait is for outside seating right in front of the restaurant, the manager said that it is while but as soon as my wife stepped out of the car was seated right away with bunch of empty tables all around us....

    Messed with a good thing

I and numerous friends would go to Zocalo at least once a week before this recent hiatus to change the menu and freshen up the space. It was one of our favorites in Boston. Went back just at reopening and what a shocker! It was terrible. The food came out wrong, cold/room temp and sub-par meats. We suspect maybe they lost there chef without notice, because it's the only thing that could explain why he forgot how to cook when they reopend ! Really-like he completely forgot how to cook?! And why would you take a refried bean offering off the menu in a Mexican restaurant? The manager was gracious enough to acknowledge our displeasure and it reflected in the bill. We will give it three or four weeks to come back up to speed and try again. Why oh why did they mess with perfection ?

    Margarita

Margaritas are pretty terrible. Tastes like stop and shop lemonade. Sorry stop and shop, but your lemonade is sub-par. Worth a review on its own for a Mexican food place

    True Mexican

This is far and away the best Mexican food in Boston (not that the competition is stiff). Don't forget to get a pitcher of sangria!!

    As a Californian native...

I have high standards when it comes to mexican food. I have been here more than twice and enjoyed the flavors (sabor!). Those who are not familiar with real Mexican food will find it different than what they may be used to, (ie. cheese and hot suace and ...more cheese.) The authentic culinary experience is one not to be missed

Hit or miss, but mostly miss

Another restaurant with a lot of hype and no delivery. The guitarists were lovely at first, but an hour later, not loving the mariachi so much. I had the chicken burrito, which was npt very good.. Weirdly flavored. Friend 1 ordered a burrito with mariscos, which she didnt love either..v Dunno if there's some spice they're using that just isn't suited to mexican food or what. The vegetarian/chile burrito was good, and I wished I'd been the one who'd ordered it. We saw little of our waiter. Extreme language barrier. Long wait till we were seated. I won't be going back to this place.
