Not enough of a fairly good thing
The atmosphere was great but portions were stingy; the food tasted pretty good and presentation was about average to above. We thought it was probably a better bar than a restaurant. We were very hungry for dinner on a Thursday night, and realized later that we could have had a satisfying meal if we had ordered about 3 times as much as we did. We started with a 3 cheese fondue (around 1/2 cup of rather bland sauce) with about 9-10 grape-sized pieces of vegetables and bread for dipping for $9. Our bread basket had 3 half pieces of good bread. I had the "entree sized" seafood stew, about $18 for 4 mussels, a scallop, 4 tiny pieces of calamari, and 2 medium sized shrimp (which sounds like a lot more than it was) in a light tomato based broth. It would have been more substantial if served over rice or pasta. My dining partner had 4 scallops in about 1/4" of curried cream-based chowder for $17. I had a nice glass of Cotes du Rhone wine, probably the highlight of our dining experience, for $8.50. Our bill including tax totalled about $63, and I think it was worth about half that. If I'm going to pay that much for small portions, I'd rather go to a better restaurant to do it.
