    Chinatown-Like Restaurant

Wow. Ian's got quite the high horse there. Really...save the politics for a different forum, mmmmk? Victoria's a solid Chinese restaurant if you're looking for more authentic fare but don't feel like venturing into Chinatown to get it. I enjoy the pan friend noodles and bok choy myself, as well as the lobster with ginger and scallions.

    Cannot Eat Here

Unfortuantly this resturant serves shark fin soup and therefore we cannot eat here. For all that may be good about it, failing to stop serving sharks fins means a boycott from responsible consumers.

    My Favorite Place to Eat

I'm a student at BU and Victoria's is one of the only places that is open late. I've gone there on several occasions with one friend or with 10. They get a little annoyed when your party is larger than their tables, but they are willing to accommodate. The food here is superb. My favorite is the poached chicken with salt, although some days they skimp on the amount of chicken they give you while other days they literally give you half a chicken. The salt and pepper squid is also a favorite. Too bad they don't deliver.

    Authentic Cantonese

I'm Chinese and I've been looking for authentic Cantonese-style food in the Allston-Brighton/Brookline area. I was unsucessful until today when I found Victoria Seafood. Their dishes are excellent and very reasonably priced. There is a special deal where you can get 2 lobsters any style for $14.95. They're average sized lobsters which would easily run you about $25-$30 for two lobsters somewhere in Chinatown. We had the Cantonese-style lobster which is a ginger scallion taste. We had the salty spiced squid, Chicken with cashews, Cantonese lobster, broccoli with garlic, and fried half chicken. Each dish was delicious. Our bill was $50. By the way, this place is packed every night with Chinese patrons, so it's the real deal. Of course, if you want top quality Chinese, elsewhere might be the way to go. But if you want to avoid travelling far and fighting for parking, go to Victoria's. You won't be disappointed.

    Our favorite Chinese

We love this place, so stay away; we want it all to ourselves.
