Best Italian in Boston.
Try the chef's table for a special treat. It's right in the kitchen, and they feed you all night!

Great waitstaff, wonderful food
I would eat the crunchy eggplant app every day if I could. So incredible! I also had the chicken under a brick and it was amazing! Although we waited quite awhile for our reservation, the bar was accommodating and tranferred our bill. Our waiter was wonderful. He was really knowledgable and helped choose great options. I can't wait to go back!

Excellent
Via Matta is my place to go when I want to feel as though I'm back in Italy. The service is warm and unobtrusive and the food is, I believe, the best in the city. I love the Crunchy Eggplant and the Chicken Milanese is the perfect meal...and so reasonably priced. You must try the Marscaporeos to end your experience...they are melt in your mouth chocolate shortbreads, and when dipped into the light and creamy marscapone...well, words can't describe the taste...you'll just have to try them. I have tried many items on the menu and have always come away delighted with my choices. Try Via Matta...I know you'll love it.

Dissapointing
After hearing people rave about the chicken under a brick, I took a friend here for her birthday and neither of us were overly impressed. I found the chicken to be bland. The polenta, on the other hand, was phenominal. The atmosphere and service were also great. Not a great first impression but I will certainly give it another shot.
