The Village Kitchen

We stumbled into this place for lunch and went back twice in one day. The food was delicious and not what you'd expect to find in a take out place. I had their risotto special and pizza and they were both yummy, I felt like I was having lunch in a friend's kitchen. the people were friendly without being in your face. It was an enjoyable experience.

Friendly, hole-in-the-wall italian restaurant with very high quality pizza and other standard kind of takeout. The village kitchen shines, however, with their more ambitious Italian offerings like delicious gnocchi, complex sauces on hand cut pasta of various kinds, very subtly spiced soups, etc. The atmosphere is utterly plain, yet honest and friendly with a devoted takeout crowd coming and going among the five tables.

The pizza here is just delicious. Thin crust, not greasy, very flavorful. The pizza with broccoli and chicken cutlet pieces on top is unusual and extremely yummy. There are alot of places in our neighborhood to grab a pizza, and we always go here. Support the local non-chain Cambridge community economy and give this place a try.
