The Hidden Jewel in Faneuil Hall

I had dinner at The Point recently and my wife & I got the seafood platter to start out & for the price and the amount of food that they gave you it was well worth it. Since then i have been back several times and every time i walk in there i am greeted with a smile and a friendly greeting. These days great food, great service at a reasonable price is hard to find especially in Boston. I suggest if your in the faneuil hall area and your looking for a great place to eat i suggest you get to The Point. Before everybody finds out about this hidden jewel.

Nice Value at the Point of Hanover St.

As college graduations ensue and tourist season descends upon us, it gets harder to find a meal in the hot spots of Boston that isn't a complete wallet suck, or a corporate bore. This Point it is halfway between Fanieul Hall and the North End on the tip of Hanover Street. Its right where Haymarket happens. We happened into it accidentally when walking to the North End. The place differentiates itself from the string of drinking places and over priced tourist traps by presenting simple fare a great prices. It appears to have gone through a renovation and is under new management that is experimenting with different flavors. The best part about the place is the menu is quite reasonable and the food comes out of the kitchen tasting pretty good. Nothing fancy but perhaps a cut above pub food, with a nice atmosphere. They have the usual appetizers, buffalo wings, tenders, etc, which are fine and about two bucks less than the rest of the street. The first time we went we had the whopping point burger, which is 5.95. That is about the right price for a burger, not the classic 7.95 rip off that so many places are trying to pull. We went back and had their pizza, which even though is buried on their menu was quite good, and cheap. I went in for a lunch one day last week and they had 6 buck lunch specials- I had a juicey, 6oz prime rib au jus with a heap of fries. It just hit the spot. I think the most expensive item on the menu is like 12.95. This place is still working on it's menu which could be described as eclectic pub food, but from what I see they are going to shake up that street- and that street could use it, as some of the "institutions" there have become well, a little too big for their britches. There location is jus a little ways down the street so they will have to build their clientele, but when you can actually eat dinner and have drinks, and leave a nice tip for under fifty bucks, I have no doubt they will do quite well.
