    Sushi SNOB Loves Super Fusion

Super Fusion is an amazing Sushi fixture in Washington Square. Sushi needs to be fresh, visually well presented, include generous amounts of fish per roll, and inexpensive -to be considered worth my business. Super Fusion offers all these qualities and is more than accommodating when special requests are made. Ive attempted many other establishments and hands down Super Fusion is one of the best. Highly recommended.

Super Fusion does NOT have it all

We have tried numerous high quality sushi- restaurants throughout our years. So I know about good/ fresh fish...and Super Fusion does NOT have it all. After reading positive reviews, my friend and I made an adventurous trip to Super Fusion. We were on a look out for a "hidden gem" and was open minded to a less decorative joint as long as the food was good/fresh and decently priced. We got 2 of 3: no decor and decent pricing. But we were devastated to find out that people who gave the positive reviews know NOTHING about good fresh sushi. We ordered a variety of foods. The tempura was fried with "old" oil that left a greasy after-taste on its food. The sushi rice was still warm, which made the seaweed much chewier than it should be, Eel and Uni (sea urchin) was unbearably fishy (=not fresh), Wasabi was too "spicy" and not enough of the distinct horseradish experience. BUT I have to note that the Salmon was delicious and the scallop and white tuna was enjoyable. Those three was what kept me "alive" throughout the meal. The spicy mayo was good too. PRO's: Good service, quick sushi fix, not too expensive, good portions, CON's: Freshness not guaranteed...it was almost intolerable. My suggestion: if you need a quick fix and you have a few favorites you stick to, super fusion may be the place for you. But don't take your friends to this place if they like ALL of their orders to be tasty. My lesson of the day: too bad small sushi places in the suburbs can't hold its own when it comes to flavor and freshness.. Although our tradition was to have fried ice-cream after the meal, we did not have the heart to risk another disappointment.

    Huge pieces of sushi!

The pieces of sushi at Super Fusion are 2 to 3 times larger than anywhere I've ever been. I've been here twice now, and each time have been served with huge pieces of fish. The first time I had Super Fusion, I got the sashimi dinner. It came with soup. The sashimi was twice the size of anywhere else I've eaten. They were very thick...too thick. I decided after this meal that sometimes less is better. The flavor of the fish wasn't top-notch, but it filled my stomach and was a great value. I tried this place out again yesterday, and my experience was much better. I got the "Sushi 3 - Kinds," which was made up of three pieces each of salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. The slices of sushi were of typical thickness, but the length of each piece was close to 6 inches long! For the $18 price tag, I was eating about $18 pieces worth of sushi. Also, the sushi was much more flavorful than my previous experience. I will absolutely eat here again.

    Quality sushi at affordable prices!

Try the escolar nigiri sushi. It's a white tuna that is to die for. I've never seen it anywhere else. It melts in your mouth and is slightly sweet. I ALWAYS get it every time I order from Super Fusion. The best thing about this restaurant is that they give such huge portions on the nigiri sushi. The fish hangs over on both ends of the rice. It's like getting two pieces of nigiri sushi in one! I know that authentic sushi is supposed to be bite sized and all but you really get your money's worth here. I've only dined in once. That was a pretty stressful experience because there are only three tables and you feel like you have to eat fast so someone else can have a table. So, now, we always order to-go. Their service is very quick. You can call in your order and then right after walk or drive over and it's usually ready and waiting for you by the time you get there.

    On my short list

This is from a Boston sushi restaurant snob whose list of acceptable places is very short!! Super Fusion is now near the top. The food is sublime, the menu refreshing, the rolls imaginative. Forget the atmosphere-this is strictly take out-but, don't cook tonight, order in from Super Fusion..
