Disappointed with charge
When shopping on Boylston St. or staying at The Lenox we love going to Solas, it's a friendly, neighborhood type bar/restaurant. This time we brought our children for dinner. Very disappointed when we got the bill and there was a $2.00 per person non-alcohol charge. My kids aren't even old enough to drink! We spent $95.00 on dinner, much more than we would have spent on alcohol, if we had just gone in there for a few drinks. Just thought that should have been posted somewhere.

Give it another try
I've been to Solas a couple of times and had great service each time. The menu is simple and cooked properly. It can get pretty crowded downstairs after work, but you can easily go upstairs or into City Bar which is connected through the hotel lobby. As far as the smoking goes - at least the servers were outside - where are they supposed to go - half way down the block?

Smoking waitstaff outside- turnoff
We went here although I was turned off by waitstaff smoking right outside the restaurant, and I could smell it on them when they served me. If they have to smoke, they should hide from view of people going in.
