Comfort in a crowded city
I've taken my family (wife + 3 kids under 8) here a few times and it is always perfect. The service is attentive, efficient and discreet - that is the ideal combination. The food is excellent and the price is reasonable for a major city. The atmosphere is Italian enough to make you want to go there (again) and the banquettes are always my choice with the kids. Perhaps the best recommendation is my 8 year old boy who shared my mussels and then sucked in some simple buttered spaghetti...only to comment while visiting the new MFA wing that he "could stay in Toscano all day long.." Postcript: the quartinos are perfect for lunch giving both adults an ample glass of good wine..for about $8. I just called the restaurant to find out the details of the Orvietto Classico that we had Saturday...the person who answered the phone had the details for me immediately...as if he was walking around with it in his hand! So helpful, positive and polite. Try it out, I bet you'll go back!

Amazing
I love the new look for the restaurant! The wait staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and just great. The food is wonderful! The wine is amazing... The "bar" (you have to eat, can't just go for the ambiance and glass of wine due to their liquor license) , is really cute. You'll have an amazing time. Get the bruschetta!

Way too expensive
I consider myself a foodie, and this was so disappointing. The food was fine, salty but average (definitely not bad). But come on, $25 for chicken that is a step up from Chilis? Like I said, decent food, but hugely overpriced.

Toscano's - classic charles st dining
Great food tucked away in a quiet, dimly lit setting... limited menu, not as much as one would hope, but definitely worth checking out. great people watching on charles street. take out on cold nights is also a favorite way to go.
