Subpar
Saturday evening table of four out to enjoy good food and wine. If so, forget this place. Arrogance and pretention replace welcome and good food. Bar tender and wine waiter united in their 'doing you a favor by serving you' attitude. Appetisers not easily found on plates and when discovered disappoint with blandness. Steak acceptable, duck not so and veal meat balls may have originated in a pizza parlor sub. Rendezvous would be more aptly named Allez Vous.

Lovely Cooking, Train the Wait Staff!
We had dinner here on a Sunday night, the only menu presented was prixe fixe. The gifted chef and the creative, delicious food deserve a better trained and supervised wait saff. The wait staff was eager but really amateurish. The restaurant was half full, but we waited twenty minutes for our order to be taken, another fifteen for the carafe of wine. Four different people served us, no one appeared to be in charge or keeping an eye on the flow. While the check was presented when the dessert was served, there was another fifteen minute wait for our credit card to be picked up. Maybe we hit a bad night.

A much-needed French resto in Central
The warm, romantic atmosphere, the friendly, attentive, but unpretentious staff, the enormous selection of wines by glass and bottle, and the eclectic palette the menus offers are only some of the reasons to spend a special evening at Rendezvous. Just as in France, you will not be rushed in the slightest, and you will make it an aspiration to try every appetizer, first course, and entree (not to mention the remarkable desserts) listed. The gnocchi with three kinds of mushroom, the catalan garlic soup, and the sardines are a sample of the incredibly tasty hors d'oeuvres. The duck, steak tips, and beef are exceptional for those who lean toward meat. For fish-lovers there's an ample variety of unusual offerings as well, including monkfish. Be sure to try dessert--the buttermilk pudding being nothing short of unbeatable.
