Very satisfying dinner
We wandered in here on a Saturday night just a few weeks ago starving and tired. We were seated quickly and had a great meal, with no waiting and no obnoxious staff and they did not rush us out when we were finished. The dessert was our only disappointment because there was nothing chocolate, which is required by our daughter. However the adults were so full and satisfied it didn't matter to us. Try it!

i can't understand why this place is NOT crowded
I wrote the heading with reluctance: it's as if I'm giving away a state secret. PN is fabulous. The food is as good as it gets in the more popular NE restaurants; I can't quibble with the prices, which are fare; and you know they don't carry my favorite wine, but I go there anyway. I have disriminating tastes, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why this place is never crowded. I have lots of out of town visitors, I always recommend the place, and it gets very good reviews. Oh, btw, the owner is a gas: very charming, engaging, and by force of personality, gives the place an old world feeling, which is what the NE is supposed to be like. Right?

Unpleasant
The food is nothing to rave about. There are so many finer restaurants in the area. The pasta was overcooked and the sauces are nothing I could get out of a jar. Not worth the high prices.

Let's Stop Plugging Other Restaurants.
While the "Northender" was correct about the prices being at a high level, he failed to address that almost all restaurants in the North End have high prices, and completely missed the boat on the quality of the food and the atmosphere that truly defines dining at Piccolo Nido. Simply put, if you enjoy classic Italian cuisine you won't regret your choice of this restaurant. Can you name a place you've dined at where the meatballs are crafted from ground filet mignon? I didn't think so! Regardless of the occasion, the food is flavorful and well-portioned, the service courteous and available, and the atmosphere jovial and celebratory.

Don't do it...you can do better
As a long time northend resident I've been to PN a three times. Once by choice twice by necessity because all of the other restaurants in the area were jammed and I had hungry guests in town. Which speaks to the only good thing about PN....you can always get in, it's never crowded and there's a reason why. I can't mince words on this one...the place is a rip off. The food is mediocre at best but way over priced. The wine list is adequate but again over priced. The service is OK and the space comfortable. You can do a lot better for your money...walk 50 yards past PN on North St. and try a real gem..the North Street Grille. This place is a real treat and great value. Another 75 yards down the street and your in North Square..home of Carmen, a place not to be missed. Better yet and just around the corner from PN on Fleet Street is Prezza. The place is awesome and fun.
