New Golden Gate

Been to this place twice. First time a year ago I was drunk , so trusting my opinion on it was iffy, but I thought it was awesome then. Second time was last night after some time at the Royale for a Movember event (look it up it's a great cause). Wanted to go to Chinatown and look for this place since I could not remember the name and try it again, also women I was with had never been. So starving, sober, and looking for this right place was terrible . Eureka!! I see the red over hang I remember, that is it. Looked in and sure as anything the locals are in there that tells me it must be good. Walked in got seated right away. Ordered and the food was there within 10 minutes. Crispy Sticky Milk, Scallion pancakes, Satay Beef and a Curry Chicken/noodle/shrimp dish. Cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Will be going here again and trying some more adventurous items on the menu.

I have been back to this resturant a few times. Food comes very fast and sometimes all at once. They have some great items on the menu, you will have to try the Lobstah. It is very resonable priced for two. Pea Pods are to die for. Get there before 7 on weekends.

This is one great restaurant! The food is wonderful. Very unique and creative dishes. Not your "Westerenized" stuff here , but authentic dishes. Try the Beef and Bean Curd Hot Pot or the Garlic Frog Legs or Yang Chow Fried Rice or any one of the soups. Not much atmosphere, but very clean. Big portions, you won't be dissappointed. You have a staff that is quick and efficient and really hustles. Don't go there with an attitude because the staff will give it right back to you. And Rightly SO!!! I have seen a couple diners give the waiter a hard time, needlessly, and he gave it right back to them. This is a nice place, with really good food, and a pleasant staff. You will be satisfied. And don't forget to try the luncheon specials. You eat well for $5! Rachael Ray would be in Heaven.

Great Foood... yummy!

I dined out recently at this resturant only to be sadly disappointed at the management of New Golden Gate. I was charged a excessive price for a single lobster dinner. The resturant has a special in the window written in Mandarin ( Chinese) 2 1.1/4 lobsters for $23.95. When I was waited on by the waiter I asked him the specials for lobster he had told me the only two available were 1 lobster for $21.95 and 2 lobsters for $39.95. I guess he forget about the special on the window? I called to explain this to the management of the resturant hoping I would be treated fairly and they would make some adjustment on my VISA cc. They became rude and unfriendly, I even went as far as visiting the resturant myself and explaining the situation to them with no success or friendliness.

Excellent food, large portions, reasonably priced, friendly staff. Try the salt and pepper squid.
