Great concept, interesting atmosphere, trying-to-be-cool vibe... but the food falls way short. Not much wowed us, and most of the dishes were swimming in grease. Surprised, considering the owners. And it isn't inexpensive, either. Wouldn't return.

A friend and I ate at M&C 15 minutes before they were to close. The waitress "rushed" us and the appetitzer, we hardly got down before they put our dinner plates in front of us. Clearly, they wanted us outta there. The beef chow fun and wok dish were salty and lousy. Also, the atmosphere is really weird. Cafeteria/diner? And for the price -- not worth it.

I think my experience can be summed up this way: small portions, weird atmosphere, and hefty tab. No value here. The place was empty with few customers which was a little eerie, but I went relatively early for dinner in the SE. Food was good, not great so I was a little confused about the pricing. Food came out piecemeal when hot. I usually don't eat my veggies before the main course so that was a little odd but M&C explains peculiarity on menu. It's still a tad bit bizarre for my taste. I'm a little old fashioned in that I want my appetizer as an appetizer, not as a side dish. The place was clean and had friendly staff so that was a plus.

I've been to M&C a few times. The food can be exceptionally good on one visit and mediocre the next so QC is an issue. The menu is unique with varied choices. The waitstaff was pleasant during both lunch and dinner visits. My biggest complaint is the that the portion sizes are miniscule. On one dinner visit, my guest an I ordered several items, forked over $65 and left hungry. The next visit was a tad better, but still highly overpriced.

We stopped in on a whim and were able to be seated at the counter quickly although it was busy. Pleasant environment- liked the lighting above the table areas. We chose quite a few items and were also given a freebie of the edamame and cilantro salad. We enjoyed everything! The edamame salad was a nice, fresh combination that nicely balanced the meat and chicken we had. We also enjoyed the pickles plate, the pork dumplings (a little greasy), the hot and sour soup - very flavorful - the spring rolls and best of all the fried chicken. The chicken was done exactly right with a crispy skin and delicious sauces. We received a nice ender of lemon cream with grated ginger. The homemade sodas were good, too- cherry and ginger, and lychee and vanilla, but a bit pricey at $4 each. All in all a great experience. We'd definitely go back.

I just love this place! Have been going a couple of times a week since they opened lunch, dinner, take out, I'd go for breakfast but I don't think they are open. The food is fresh, well cooked and so tasty. The place is great looking - really hip with amazing music and the staff is just lovely.

Considering the owners this place should be great. I went on a wed night and it was initially dead. The 3 of us ordered 7 dishes of which we only really ate the dan dan noodles and spare ribs. The charred udon was really salty and over charred like a beef chow fun gone terribly wrong. The egg with oysters was gloppy. The egg alone or the raw oysters would be better. Also, the bao with pickle carrot might as well have been meatless b/c i could only taste carrot. The Tiger Tears were ok also. The problem was that nothing was really good. The dishes which were our "favorites" of the night were the only ones we actually ate.I hope it was just an off night b/bc we had higher expectations. However, by the time we left there was a line for people to get in. Everything besides the food was good.
