The food isn't great, certainly not authentic Chinesehowever, it works and the portions are a reasonable size. The place is run by good peopleyou can count on getting a nice smile and genuinely friendly conversation.

The best Chinese Food in Boston
Dun Dun Noodles, Saun La Chow Chow and Spicy Bean Curd Chicken Velvet are all on must have list and are among the best dishes at Mary Chung. The food is always top notch, the price low and service sweet. The place is a bit of a dive but who cares, it's the food that counts and it's a must for all visiting who love Chinese food! And be sure to say hi to Mary who is usually at the front door. Be warned: Hot means hot here and there is none of that wimping out so common among American Chinese restaurants.

Love it
We, along with many other fans, go here weekly. You do need to know what to order. Favorites: ma paw tofu, fresh cookes green beans, crispy chicken, dundun noodles, scallion pancake, peking ravioli, suan la chow show, fried tofu with dundun sauce, spicy fresh green beans. Everything they make is well executed, it's just that some dishes that are popular in Chinese restaurants in America are pretty boring - like crab rangoon. Which, by the way, is totally made up and is not Chinese. Anyway, Mary Chung's is absolutely great. It's a family-run restaurant that has been around for over 30 years. Mary is there almost everyday, presiding with grace and hospitality.

Above Standard Chinese Food
Some diehards say this place is the best Chinese food in Cambridge. I disagree. But this place is fine for dinner, especially large groups. Beware of 6-8 PM as they are very busy. They also only take Cash. Classic Chinese restaurant food is great here--my favorite being the sizzling rice soup. Bean curd is also tasty. The specials are pretty standard as well. No surprises here.
