Disappointing - maybe it was bad night??

After all the hype this restaurant gets I was so looking forward to this experience (I'm Italian and my father grew up in the north end of Boston right on Hanover Street) so I feel a connection to this area. Kudos for the restaurant atmosphere - very Italian and quaint .. but let's face it - a restaurant is really all about the food and they fell far short of my expectations! We went on a Saturday night on the early side around 6:00 when it was not too crowded so the kitchen had plenty of time to get it right. My Chicken Braccolitini was dry, skimpy in portion size for the price, very understuffed and honestly tasted like it had been cooked hours before - no need for that with a simple chicken dish. I searched the food on my plate (it didn't take long!!!) and never found even a trace of the shrimp or ham that was stated on the menu. It seems like whatever small bit of ricotta and broccoli there was in the dish ended up all on one half of the small portion. And speaking of portions .... could they spare maybe just a little more pasta - I know they buy it in volume so there must be plenty of it in the kitchen. We were a party of 8 and honestly the only dinner that filled anyone up was the chicken parm and we are not large people! On a positive note the marinara sauce was excellent and I'd highly recommend it - I just wish I had some pasta to scoop it up with! Great bread too. Please Joe Tecce, take a look at what's rolling out on those trays and give people a little more value for their money.
