    What a disappointment

My girlfriend and I met there last night to catch up. We both had been there before and loved it...what a disappointment....the service was horrible, the cheese fondue was so overloaded with mustard that it didn't taste like cheese, and they did some kind of sales presentation in the upstairs that left the individuals roaming next to the tables downstairs. Our waiter was so rude neither of us will go back.

    very good lunch menu

I enjoy Ivy immensely. I have only been there for lunch. I have really enjoyed it. It is a step up from the typical lunch from around town at a similar price. The ingredients are always fresh and interesting. I would recommend it.

    Very disappointing...

With so many good restaurants in the area, I'm surprised this place is so terrible! The food was mediocre at best, and the service is some of the worst I've had in Boston. Expect this place to shut down soon, don't bother trying...

A Little Lacking for the $$

Prix fixe wine menu is great, and the menu has a good selection. The dishes from the first course were not cleared in time for the entrees, however, and the runner proceeded to wedge our food between piles of dirty dishes. The pappardelle bolognese was so-so...pasta was way beyond al-dente and the sauce was bland. The arancini were very good, and the soups were absolutely delicious served with wedges of grilled bread. No "free gelato" as stated on phantom gourmet, maybe they've done away with that since opening. Overall, it was alright. Not spectacular, not bad either.

    Not what we expected

We have been wanting to try Ivy ever since we saw it on Phantom Gourmet. The menue seemed promising, the prix fix wine menue great and we loved the idea of free dessert. The food came out cold but still good. The waitress never mentioned that a couple of the dishes had 3 pieces of food even thought there where 4 of us. Basically I would give it one more chance. The overall expierence was ok.

    Ivy in Downtown Crossing

Ivy, with it's candlelit candleabras and red seats, has an intimate, almost seductive atmosphere and equally enticing menu. Food is served in platters, which are meant for sharing, much like in Chinese restaurants. I've tried the Butternut Squash Ravioli and a scallop dish, and loved both. Freshest of ingredients, nice presentation. I enjoy their wine list immensely and appreciate the straightforward pricing of glasses and bottles. I've liked the recommendations I've been given. At the bar, the Pomegranate martini is not to be missed. Service can be a little slow at times, but overall, there is nothing I would fault this restaurant on. Prices are typical for downtown Boston and the dishes do not come with sides, unless so noted. Bring your credit card or a lot of cash -- once you start "sampling," you won't want to stop. Food is served well into the night, so no rushing to get there before 9:00.

    Best new restaurant in Boston!

Excellent approach to both food and wine. The Italian menu was great and the food was full of flavor. The wine list had 65 bottles at only $25. The bottle that was suggested was right on. The service staff was knowledgable and attentive. I would suggest a visit.
