Disappointing service, not worth it
I eat Thai food quite often and am always willing to try new restaurants, however trying House of Siam was a bad choice. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered red curry with beef which came with mushy rice. It was supposed to have bamboo shoots, peppers, and eggplant in it, but it only had one piece of eggplant as well as a small portion of beef. The dish didn't stand out and I've had better. The service was terrible. Every time a question was asked they would nod their heads and not answer it and we would have to repeat ourselves. They were extremely slow at taking our orders and giving us our check, as well as never refilled our water. We wanted change from what we paid since we did not want to pay more than 15% tip, but it seemed like they purposely waited around so as to not give it to us. We were in a hurry and couldn't afford to wait so we left and ended up giving them about 20% tip for two people which they did not deserve. I would not come back again. There are better restaurants around the area.

The Best Pad Thai in Boston!!
I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years (since it was at it's previous location across from the Westin). Their food has always been consistently delish! I try Pad Thai at other restaurants, it never comes close to House of Siam. The owner, I think his name is Joe, is an absolute doll. I have never seen him without a smile on his face. He is kind, warm and genuine. He is what makes the atmosphere at House of Siam great!

Bad Day?
I read the previous reviwes and was exicted for tasty Thai food. I was very disapointed! We ordered a house salad and Pad CU. I have never had worse Pad CU. There was way too much fish sauce and the noodles were overcooked. Vegetables? No just stalks of what once was... and the house salad was nothing special. Perhaps they were having a bad day, perhaps.

Yum!
They have delicious food!!! The pineapple rice is my favorite. The only thing that was a turn-off, was the bathroom smelt like sulfur downstairs.

Avoid Delivery Feb 14th
I waited 2 hours for delivery on Valentines Day for two years in a row. Last year, there was a good reason - it was a wintery mess with sleet and freezing rain and I was happy anyone would deliver. This year, I'm not sure of the reason as the roads were clear as could be. I phoned the restaurant to inquire (after 1 hour 45 mins of no food) and the pleasant voice stated the driver was en route and requested my telephone number so the manager may call me back. The manager was very nice and requested I not provide the driver a tip,as he would pay him. It is by no means the delivery drivers fault for lack of proper staffing by the restaurant and found that to be a cop out for poor management. I can imagine it is the driver that would be screwed in this situation. The food is very tasty, however no food is worth a 2 hour wait anytime. I will not order delivery from House of Siam - unless I order at 3pm for an expected 7pm dinner. Cons: Delivery understaffed.

A local's take on House of Siam
House of Siam has some of the best Thai food in Boston (which despite its great restaurants, tends to be lacking in great ethnic food - so take this with a grain-of-salt if you are from San Francisco or New York). The staff (esp. the owner) is always very welcoming and the restaurant is clean and cozy (small, but not by South End standards). Prices are about average for South End (this is not $5 food-court fare). I have ordered takeout many times and they have never messed-up my order. Only once have I had to wait longer than the stated 20 minutes (the night of a redsox game) and that was also the only time my food was luke-warm. My personal favorites would include the green-curry chicken and any duck-dish that they serve. PS If you ever have to wait too long for a table, try Mangia pizza across the street!

south end's best thai
delicious, consistant and everyone i bring loves it. the owner always remembers me and is sweet and professional. on a cold day he insisted that i take a gratis hot tea before i went back outside. and for the south end it's a deal.
