A Treasure
The previous review by the ostensible Italian should be discounted. The reviewer is obviously a crank. If he thinks GG's straciatella resembles cottage cheese then he must have a source for some amazing cottage cheese. Go to Gran Gusto for the pizza if nothing else. There is nothing like it in the Boston area. But stay for the charming service and the excellent menu, as well as a nice, reasonably priced wine list.

Gran Disgusto!!!
I do not usually write reviews for restaurants, but i was not at all impressed, i am italian from italy and was very excited to try gran gusto just from what other diners had written...the pizza crust had no flavor, same for the toppings, they try to call salame a kind of pepperoni with a twist and give you prosciutto that is definatedly not parma prosciutto. the bread (focaccia) was cold and stale, and the appetizers where a complete disaster we tried the cheese plate, it had two kinds of cheese only, but cut and separated to make it seem like an assortment, parmiggiano was decent, romano was just salty, and it had what i call fridge face, hard not well preserved edges. the stracciatella that was suggested by our waitress (a creamed version of mozzarella similar to the filling of a burrata) was almost like cottage cheese. The lack of service was also a turn off, however it was not the reason for my negative review...sorry gran gusto but you need to work on adding some gusto to your dishes...I will never return.

Authentic Napoli in my backyard
I just moved to Cambridge after 4 years in Naples, Italy. I never thought I would find the tastes of la cucina napolitana here. But, between the food and atmosphere of Gran Gusto, I sat there realizing I felt like I was back in Naples. And, that is about the highest compliment I can think of for an Italian restaurant in the US.

Great
Great food & service. I'm going there for the 3rd time. Tartufate margherita plus pate fresh black shaved truffles. Died and went to heaven.

Great find in North Cambridge
Don't be intimidated by the neighborhood setting. This is a good restaurant. Their pizzas were delicious, thin-crusted and made with imported buffalo mozzarella. The homemade pasta and sauces were excellent, too. For once an Italian restaurant that's worth the money.
