    Excellent Indian Food

I passed this restaurant many times on my way home and finally one day, fed up of punjab palace food which my husband used to believe was his second home,i forcibly took him and ventured into this place. And truly it left us both stunned. The food is phenomenally good. Never before here in US..whether in california or here, have i got the most authentic flavors esp my fave being the karahi paneer which is comparable to the best Indian restaurants back home in Delhi. We absolutely love the food and specifically recommend the garlic naan with karahi paneer, and the chicken tikka masala (not the chicken tikka curry but masala) and achari chicken. This is what we have everytime we go there which is every other day. Indo -Chinese stuff is just ok. Nothing great. Though out of repitition we do go and try other indian restuarants but always come back unsatisfied. The owner is also very friendly and warm. It has its fallacies too basically small but highly priced portions. But worth every buck you pay at the end of the day.

    Indian cuisine at its best

Its hard to come across a restaurant that shows the true colors of its heritage. Grain & Salt is that place that gives you a feeling of a true Indian Pakistani vibe which gives you an irresistible craving for such authentic cuisine. I have traveled to many parts of the world and have tasted all kinds of cuisine, yet i have never come across a place that resembles Indo-Pak cuisine like this place here. Situated in the US but giving you a feeling you're in a place in india is just exquisite. I have become a huge fan of this place ever since the i tried their weekend special- Nihari, what the waiters explained to me was a dish of gravy with well cooked beef shank. The service is fabulous and all the staff and management know exactly what is involved in each dish, and from what i have seen very experienced. Unlike other places, the waiters spoke fluent and efficient english and were without hesitation able to explain each and every question i had regarding the menu. That just goes to show that the owner is a very serious and dedicated person, presenting his culture to you on your plate. What adds icing on the cake is the restaurants masala tea and ras malai for desrt, nothing beats that after an awesome meal. The atmosphere is perfect for both a family visit as well as a romantic night out. I found everything to be within reason. The portions of the food, the service and the elegance of the restaurant is all worth every penny you spend. Nothing is too expensive, in other words i got my money's worth and that is what pleased me the most. Grain & Salt in my book is 5 star all the way and i hope people who read this give it a shot. I walked in there with my family not knowing what to expect but i walked out with the biggest smile of satisfaction.

    defines extravagance

A random guy comes into this indian restaurant.Which happens to emerge from this ocean of indian restaurants throughout Boston. But, i had no idea what was coming up.I mean the food which was ordered took its own time, but was worth the wait, although we didn't have to wait for long, unlike the other indian restaurants I've been too.The food was served in a proper manner. The waiters where very helpful,to be honest i actually told one of them to order for me,because he seem to have alot of knowledge with the food being served. In the middle of my heavenly meal, the owner of the restaurant walked in.In a few minutes,i grew this amazing relationship with the owner and his waiters, who seemed to be his younger brothers(it was how he was with him which gave me that impression). I requested to be shown to the kitchen,so that i could see the hands of the person which fed me so good food.Anyways i have been there a couple of times till date.Hopefully always will.

    Absolutely Awesome

and to think that I would miss Bombay and it's chai in the US, was amazingly surprised, it's a TREAT and the food is simply superb with a great value for money. Paneer Mirchi, Lamb Bhuna and Chicken Achari are almost better than the ones that I had back 'home'. Grain and Salt provides a fine dining experience without the fabulous costs associated with it. Extremely courteous service and warm ambience. Kudos to all at Grain and Salt. No comparison to other Indian Restaurants that I have visit ed in Boston or other places in the U.S.

    Not a good experience

I had a bad experience at the restaurant. The Food was ok and the quantity was very disappointing. The service added to the bad experience. The atmosphere is nice but thats the last thing to consider cuz the food quality/quantity comes first. Bad value for money. May be its me but I won't go to this place ever again.
