i have been going to giacomo's for at least 15 years. i go during the week or when the weather is rainy because there are no lines. i will nopt be #60 in a line that wraps around the corner. too many other good restaurants in the north end. giacomos is popular because its cheap. two peeps acan eat for 35 bucks. i like the veal marsala. i will go there again. check it out but get there 4.30 for a 5pm opening on the weekend.

I lived in the North End for 15 years and have dined at Giacomo's since it opened. Although I now live west of the City, I continue to patronize this restaurant based on its consistant quality Italian cuisine. If you don't like to wait to be seated or are uncomfortable in cramped dining quarters, this place is not for you. But if you are looking for an extensive menu of Italian offerings cooked to your own specs, you will not be disappointed by Giacomo's. And if you visit often enough, you may even get priority seating.

Its not popular because of hype, its popular because its fantastic and cheap! Pumpkin tortellinni will knock your socks off! Be prepared to wait though.

Our group of 7 were first in line at 4:40pm so we were seated immediately when the door opened at 5. Make sure your entire party is there or you won't get seated. Our waiter was very helpful when asked what he recommended. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli. It was absolutely out of this world delicious. I couldn't have asked for anything better. It was the best meal I had while in Boston and I ate pretty well.

Giacomo's is one of the best Italian restaurants in the North End. If you want a snobby atmosphere and martini's then go up the street, but you can not go wrong with the food at Giacomo's. Do not listen to the previous review. The line out the door every single night has nothing to do with endorsements. Ask the locals in line why they are there and they will tell you it has everything to do with the spectacular food.

We live in the North End and constantly see lines at this restaurant. One night (very early) there was no line (because the weather was awful perhaps) so we decided to see what the fuss was all about. Frankly, we found out that it was all for nothing. There is nothing even remotely remarkable about the food. In fact, it is barely decent. Also, (likely because of the line), the service is poor and rushed. There are so many wonderful chefs that provide exceptional menu options in Boston that it is sad that so many people wait so long to go to a barely mediocre restaurant. We hope that people will read this review and understand that just because a food network "star" endorses a restaurant, it may nonetheless NOT be worth the (very long) wait!!

Their gnocchi is the best I've ever had, it is a MUST!! I also love their fish entrees and their linguine/seafood dishes. The broccoli appetizer is DELICIOUS and if you're a broccoli lover like me, you should definitely try it.
