    impressive all around, servers scare

The sleek candle-lit bar is the first thing to catch your eye as you step into the newest SoWa hot spot, Estragon, an authentic tapas bar. We sit at the bar and order the sangria, which is despensed out of a funky bubbler type thing. Sweet but not tart, I could drink these all night long. But we want a nice bottle of wine from their all Spanish wine list. The bartender tells us info on a veriety of wines with great knowledge and a visible passion for each choice. We tell him thank you and order the suggested Naia Des, a Verdejo, at our table. It is a beautiful, complex white with the slightest touch of oak, just as we were told. Bravo young man! That was where the great service ended. We were sat at the table, and delivered tap water and never offered bread or bottled water. We finally asked for a bottle of sparkiling, which came without new glasses to put the water in, again we needed to ask our server for glasses. As for the food, we ordered garbanzo fritas, sobrasada and goat cheese and padrons to start rd. 1. All the plates were delicious. Garbanzos were a perfect harmony of spice, salt and crunch, and addictive. Sobrasada was great, and the padrons were practically neverending and glistened in salt. Next we had a delicious seared scallop, with baby 'chokes and almond cream. This was a hit. The moorish seasoned lamb skewers were absolutely fantastic, as was the baby octopus with sweet beans and the seared prawns. We were upset when the table next to us got a dish that we were never informed of until we asked our server, who seemed offended that we even asked what it was. It was a confit pig belly with watermelon, so we ordered one and lucky for us to notice this dish, because it stole the show. Absolutely fantastic. Overall the sexy and chic interior, excellent wine list and well uted food made our visit pleasant, and worth another visit albeit next time, we will just stay at the bar.
