An elephant moving as a turtle
Arrival 8:00PM. First contact with polite waitress 8:10, beer ordered. Warm draft arrived 8:25. Food ordered. Chilled soup and a salad. No smiles. Hostess barely acknowledges guests. Two supporting waiters perform automatic tasks and ignore clients calling. They set tables, correctly. A customer asked three times for a napkin. Ignored. No waiter outside for the last 20 minutes. Helper fills glass full of water and ignores a request for another beer. Guests complaining of slow service. 8:35, I give up hopes of getting another beer. 8:50 soup and salad arrive together, are deposited quickly at the table. All is so fast that I have no time to ask for a second beer. Soup is delicious! Salad well seasoned but not fresh. Had to go inside for the check...
