My mother and I decided to explore the updated Gardner museum, and thusly eat lunch at the cafe. I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich, while my mother tried to decide what plate to order. She ultimately ordered a salad that was off the menu recommended by the waitress, since there were no salad plates. The waitress said the salad would come with field greens, goat cheese and a lemon vinaigrette. My grilled cheese came out first, but was really a grilled ham and cheese, since the prosciutto was in the sandwich and not on the side as described on the menu. My mother's salad finally came out, but did not have the goat cheese she was promised so the waitress had to go back to the kitchen to get it. As we started eating our food, my mother realized that her salad was a frisee salad and not made up of field greens as she expected. My sandwich also came with a frisee salad. My mother was disappointed in her choice of plate and wished she had ordered the "grilled cheese" sandwich, which was tasty. We hope that in the future they will add better tasting plates with actual field greens and not frisee. Only our drinks were good: chardonnay and a lemonade.
