Hideously Disappointing
I have given Bouchee more chances that it deserves and has disappointed every time. The food is ranges from the OK to the inedible. The onion soup is the worst I have ever tasted. Salads are bland, frites soaked in oil. Pizzas fine. Burgers fine. Sandwiches come with 4 inches of bread and a few thin slices of ham. Steak has been OK, but again, the best frites we were ever served here were barely edible. Fish has been less than fresh and bland. You get the picture. The service has been alternately offputtingly pretentious, confused and/or inattentive. Don't even consider sitting at the bar if you are a single. The rooms and outdoor seating areas are very handsome and welcoming, which makes the fact that the food and service suck that much more of a crime.

Hidden in plain sight
Bouchee is a wonderful find for food, ambience, and service. The dining room has the feel of an authentic French brasserie without becoming overdone or falsified. The wait staff is appropriately attentive and the specials at Bouchee are worthwhile; our visit included the sweet potato soup and duck a l'orange. The salade Bouchee is wonderful as is the baked roclette. The sauteed cod is a winner too. Don't miss the pommes frites -- these fries are worth ordering for the table if they don't come with your meal.
