    room for improvement

I live minutes away and have frequented the Alchemist often. The burgers and flatbreads are great, but I've yet to find any other food at the Alchemist that I would order a second time. It is overpriced for what it offers. However the staff is wonderful, the service is great, and I love the atmosphere. I wish they'd improve their menu, if so I'd be in more often.

    Ex- Triple D's patron

I went into the Alchemist intent on hating it, but I have to say the food is lovely and the atomospher is fantastic.

Diamond in the Rough.....Oasis in the

So many different ways to describe this restaurant, with its three destintively different yet equally enjoyable seating areas. It is merely the showcase that houses some of the city best food. Chef Collins knowledge of sauces, pairing of flavors put The Alchemist in my top 5 world wide. The presentations are simple to the eye however to the palate simply a frisson of tastes, this applies not only to the carlimari with the aioli sauce and the mushroom flat bread appertizers the meals only got better. We had the sirloin with mushroom butter which both melded and melted in your mouth. I do have to say the largest swordfish, I have ever seen topped the ticket. When I was approached during my dinner by one of the owners my reply was simple" the best " at over 2 inches thick with only a slightly seasoned exterior and an incredibly moist interior. You would be hard pressed to find anything in New England that comes close. The wait staff was very cheerfull and knowledgable of the food as wellas their Beer and Wine. For those Guys who like their Lagers you will be very pleased with the selection. If you want fast food, there is a chain restaurant not far away. For an unpretentious dinning experience this is it, "The Alchemist " lives up to its name.

    needs a lot of improvement

i have been to the alchemist MANY times and they really need to formulize a concept. the food is pretty bad and dishes inconsistent; the menu is BORING; the drinks are over priced and the bar layout really disorganized for timely service. it's too bad, jp could really use another great restaurant to add to the choices here and a fun cocktail bar. maybe they will get it together, change up the kitchen staff and menu and make it finally work!

Pretty Good Food, not so great service

The food is really pretty good, the atmosphere is is cool, but if you are in any kind of hurry, this isn't the place. On our last 3 visits, from the time we ordered until the time we ate: about 45 minutes to an hour. So if you there to get a few drinks, and are not too hungry, give it a shot.
